Interior Light "TIMER"

Interior Light "TIMER"
96 audi a4 - 2.8 auto Quattro
When I get in the interior light stays on even after I start the car for like 30 seconds. Someone a while ago metioned a bad timer potentially. Looking all over and in the relays and books I see nothing about a light timer. Anyone know anything about a light timer. I will say it does go off after I hit the central locks right away. I understand it staying on but when ignition turned one usually in most cars it goes out.
anythoughts or places to look.
