K04 Help requested
I recently bought my first Audi and need some help with my K04 Turbo. I got the kit from AWE (5 bar FPR, plugs, K04, and GIAC software). It was installed locally and ran beautifully for the first week. Now I'm having some problems...(I have searched the forum and can't seem to find any answers)
Early in my drive, the boost is great. It builds to about 17psi and spikes to 20psi. Then, out of nowhere, the boost won't go above 8psi no matter what gear or RPM. If I turn the car off and back on again, the problem goes away. This seems to reset the problem even if I just turn it off for a couple of seconds.
I e-mailed AWE and they said to check for leaks. I just don't think that's the issue because the boost holds great until the problem kicks in. He also said to do an ECU scan.
Has anybody had any similar issues? Any suggestions as to the cause of this and what to do about it? Thanks!!!

You would be amazed at how much valuable info is stored in your ECU.
Not only can you scan for error codes, but you can also log timing, requested and actual boost, knock sensor activity, and much much more.
The key to unlocking this treasure is vag.com from www.ross-tech.com. If you have a laptop, for a relatively small sum of money, their software and cable will allow you to diagnose a ton of stuff on your own. At the very least, it will allow you to capture the information that AWE would need to give you a diagnosis.

I had boost problems last week too, ran fine at first then overboost once warmed up. Turned out it was my N75 valve. 10 minute swap, definitely DIY. I don't think it's too expensive (can't remember what I originally paid, used my old one). Good luck.
