Key

Is a blank key of a VW switchblade remote the same as our audi's key? So can i have it keyed at the dealer? It looks the same in the picture.

here is the answer to your key question.

It may very well be the same but.... you will need to have it recut, which means waiting for audi to mail you the recut keys from germany. If you NEED to match the ignition (I think the 96 A4 had a typical key as opposed to a square shafted key) themsleves in the car you will need a new lock and tumbler(122.28 + 25 for s/h) it has to come from the factory in Germany and it will take a few weeks. Audi will charge you for shipping as well. You may also need a new steering lock and switch (77.75) BTW, the prices are for the ignition alone, changing out the rest of the locks will be costly as well. You may be able to just get new keys cut depending on your model year and your application needed, contact a dealership for the specifics. Hope this helps.

I've had my keys cut at the dealer... as long as he is copying an original key, he will be ok

assuming that the keys are the same, which i am unsure of.
also- you can usually get old switchblade remotes off of ebay.. then buy the switchblade part from audi
