Default Looking at getting a chip

I'm thinking about getting a chip for my 2000 a4 1.8T and was wondering what people recommend. I heard that you really pay for what you get and the more expensive ones won't screw up your car, is this true?

Default giac (www.awe-tuning.com, www.pes-tuning.com): apr (www.goapr.com)

both are great chips and are the two used by most who are chipped on this board. as bradvan said, it has been discussed a LOT, so if you want more in depth discussions as to why these two are better than any others, or why they are good in general, please use the search function. i prefer giac...i say get that chip and have fun

Default find a distributor near you for support purposes just in case issues come up..............

soldering, problem codes (a local distributor will VAG your car)if things act up.

I found GIAC had more overall performance (boost comes on before the other guys 3100 rpm threshold)

Even if it's MTM, buy local if you can.

my $0.02

Default chipstar and bradvan are right.. APR and GIAC are the biggies (link inside)

if this guy is for real (that is, not trying to rip someone off), then see if his APR chipped ECU is compatible with your '00.

https://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/2101262.phtml</a
