MAF sensor/ engine light code P0171/AC problem

MAF sensor/ engine light code P0171/AC problem
1) Engine light came on and my mechanic tells me its the MAF sensor ($300). The code was P0171.
2) Also my EPC light has come on twice in the last 3 weeks, it seems to be only when its HOT (95+) or thats the way it seems. No Idea.
3) When i have the AC on the engine has trouble finding a place to idle, it's up and down all the time. My mechanic told me it was the coils and i needed 3 more and he wanted to charge me $67 each for. I had only just replaced one the week before in San Diego from a dealer for $36.02. I got 3 coils online and its still running rough so i'm not sure i trust the mechanic with his MAF decision.

Im pretty sure that it is the MAF because I put one on that we knew was bad to check something else and that code come up. Try getting some MAF sensor cleaner....or take out the MAF and clean it with some q-tips. just be gentle. you will see a metal strip inside.

I had the same P0171 code problem, I took care of it Saturday for a 1.98 piece of vacuum line.
The code lists the MAF sensor and vacuum leaks as potential sources of a lean mixture. I cleaned my MAF sensor, the code came back the next day. I found a vacuum line that runs from the front of the intake with a sharp bend (2001 1.8). It had a split at the bend. I bought some line from Auto Quest and its work'in good now.
I am looking a changing my timing belt soon, and I am thinking about replacing all of those lines at that time.
