Default Manual Boost Controller

So one the local tuners sugested that I try a MBC on my car. (Piggie from Audiworld) I just wasn't seeing the kind of boost that I should have with the hardware thats on my car EVO FMIC, EVO intake, GHL exhaust, GIAC chip, Stock K03. I was spiking at 14 psi and holding 12.5 psi and on a cold day it would drop off even more.

So to make a long story short. I got my boost back and then some. Right now I have it set so I spike AT 21 PSI and hold 16 PSI...I still need to play with it a little I will probably back it off a little...but right now the car is faster than it ever has been.

It's set up basically like this. Default just curious, but why would you avoid an obvious problem with your car by forcing it to boost more?

I mean, if you've already got a chip and all that and you're not making the right boost, something is wrong. Why fix that by forcing your car to do something it doesn't want?

Default Like Chup said, I would correct the problem the right way, and while the MBC

"fixes" the low boost, it doesn't fix what was really causing the low boost. Food for thought.

It was more of a pressure drop problem...because of the FMIC...not because of a leak or bad BPV.

Default Even with the boost loss from the FMIC your still moving the same amount of air flow.

Now your just over working that small ndbw K03 even more, your also going to be hurting midrange power since the MBC cant control the wastegate like the N75 valve can.

Hurt my midrange power...nope if anything it smooths everything out and I actually have more power all the way thru the power band.

Default Why dont you do some real logs with a vag and maybe you will understand.

Just so you understand. When you turn the boost up, the turbo spools much quicker causing the tq/hp power bands to move much lower in the rpms. This causes both the tq/hp to peak much sooner and then end up dropping off at a much faster rate.
