Default Maximum tire width?
What's the widest tire your guys have put on a 99 A4 2.8Q??? Shopping for tires for my friends car so I am not in the know on this car. TIA.

Depends how low the car is, and wheel size. I wouldn't run wider than 235 (18s) on the street

Default I run 245 tires with .5 finger gap.
I rub on in extreme cases. It is all about the offset of the wheels. my offset is 34mm

Default How wide can you go on stock wheels?
BTW the car does have factory "sport" suspension. We don't want to go too extreme, like a 225 would be plenty for my friends driving habits.

Default I put 225 tires on the stock 99 sport wheels...........
and the tires looked too wide imo. I wouldn't go any wider than 215 or 205 on the stock wheels
