Midnight Modder quick question...

I know how, bastard
I used to do it all the time on my pos saturn. I hooked up a 1200 watt system w/ 3 amps and all. Its just been years. I never remember the lil things. Plus i'm not paying some shop to put in my temporary equipment. I'll be replacing all this w/ new stuff when the economy picks up (thanx bush)

Ummm, if he is using a big thick red wire, he should also be using a big thick black wire.
A little thin black wire used in conjuction with a big thick red wire is bad.
In other words, use the same gauge for power and ground. The exception is the switch power, as Rob has already noted above. That's merely a "turn on" signal to the amp...it doesn't draw heavy current through that wire.
To answer muvment's question...if there is something on the amp labeled battery, that's probably +, and should be wired to the positive post on your battery, and the wire should be fused appropriately within 12" of the battery. Ground doesn't have to run back to the battery...you can run it to any part of the frame of the car near the amp...just make sure you sand away any paint to get a solid ground connection.
Don't yell at Mark...if you've done this before and really knew what you were doing, you wouldn't be asking these questions. Mark thinks you're going to burn down your car (and I agree with him)...he's just trying to prevent that because he really does love you!

The little things??? Dude knowing which battery terminal to feed power from is NOT little.
Power comes from the (+) side of the battery. Use a ring terminal and fuse it within a foot of the battery with the correct amperage fuse. Run the power cable on the opposite side from the RCA cables. Ground the amps with equal gauge wire to your power wire. Make sure you have bare metal at the grounding point. Don't forget the remote turn on lead - run it with the 12V cable.
Good luck
