Mirror flutter / vibration - a fix - 3M spray adhesive
I carefully pried the mirror off of the plastic backing and applied a moderate coating of 3M spray adhesive. I let this get tacky for a couple of minutes and then stuck the pieces together. I reassembled everything and went for a test drive up to highway speed and the flutter and vibration are gone. Also, on the driver's side I bent the side metal spring clip to apply a little more force to the matching plastic tab. For some reason this clip was missing on the passenger side. (I'm guessing it fell out or was never put in at the factory.) It doesn't seem to do much. We'll see how long this repair lasts, but I have had excellent success with the 3M spray adhesive in the past.
If anyone has this problem, before you go spending $100+ per mirror glass, try this solution. Of course, if your clips are broken, you are out of luck.
