Mod help

I own a completely stock 98.5 1.8T a4 FWD w/ the sport package. The car currently has 53K miles on it and i recently began thinking about performance mods i can do.

Basically I am looking for mods that will give a little more power without making the car less reliable. Is there such a thing?

I was thinking about perhaps a GIAC chip from AWE tuning. Do you guys recommend i replace the bpv too?

If i put in a chip are there other mods i need to do to make sure the car runs ok? Should i expect the car to be less reliable if i am chipped?

Is it fine to use the stock exhaust if you are chipped?

some answers

When installing a chip you should replace the bpv. The stock bpv is not up to the challenge of holding 15psi of boost. I'd either recommend the tt bpv or a metal one.
you can definitely chip without getting an exhaust. w/o exhaust you will be seeing 197 hp from the chip.

i've been chipped for 25 Kmi...

besides replacing the bpv i've had no problems! my car now has 154 Kmi. on it so as long as your engine is in good shape you should have no problems. has your timing belt been changed? if not do it before you chip it!
