mt problems again 01 a4...help

i got an 01 a4 about a month ago with a damage manual transmission, i got an used one from a used auto part with 100k, long story short got my car out the shop 3 days ago car was driving really good and today all of a sudden the trans ( i think ) made a loud noise and the car broke down on me, mechanic is telling me to buy another one, but i'm thinking should i just have him fix this one insted?

My 98' A4 had the front diff go out with less than 80K miles last winter and I know how that car was cared for so obviously a mfg defect. Things do happen. so having a great mechanic is important.

Has he seen the car? Most likely problem is driveshaft bolts backed out.

Thanks for the advice Reggie. Well I'm pretty sure he is a good mechanic, I had a A6 2.7t before and he did a few jobs on it, timing belt etc, he also fixed my dad's A6 2.8 engine. But I will definitely keep that in mind, right now I'm just waiting for him to take the transmission down and open it to see what's damage.

yes the car is at his shop, but he hasn't touch the transmission yet, all he said that it will go into gear and that their's some kind of noise coming from the inside. As soon as I know what's the transmission damage I will post it here, would really appreciate any more helpful comments. Thanks
