Default Mud guard

Hi,

I lived in Toronto which got quite a bit of snow in winter. Do you think it is worthwhile to get mud guard installed?

However, so far I haven't seen a lot of Audi here with mud guard installed.

Please give me some of your feedback.

Thanks.

I have the audi mud guards on my 99.5 a4 and they look real good. I think they make the car look tuff and the fit is exact. They keep the sides of the car much cleaner and with the sand on the roads in winter I don't have the stone chips. they don't look stupid. AXEL

Default Want to Get Them for 99.5 A4 but ...(help)

I would love to have them on our 99.5 A4 but I've heard that they might scrape the ground if your A4 has the sport suspension (from Sport Package) which lowers the car.

Does this only happen when you go over certain bumps? (possibly)

Can someone verify this?

/Seb

Default Re: Drilling, yes.

You need to drill some holes into the plastic lining in the wheel wells. There's a step-by-step guide on this in the FAQ section.

They also help keep the sand and salt from stripping off the undercoat and paint

Default Have them -- no scraping over bumps yet (more)

Front and rear, with installation was close to $250.00 at the dealer. But I agree that they look "tuff" and don't mess up the lines of the car at all. With a white car it helps a lot to minimize the gray dirt spatters.

Default Re: Mud guard

Just installed a set on my 99.5 silver Avant over the weekend. Was tired of sludge buildup on the sides of the rear bumper and the quarter panels --- am a Washington, DC driver. Cost was about $35 a pair for front and for rear --- time was minimal. Easier if you pull the wheels --- might be impossible if you don't. Gave me some wheel changing practice and an opportunity to wax the wheels. No problem with scraping yet. A good investment for the car's finish --- neutral as far as aesthetics are concerned, in my book.
