multi-function access ???

I need to locate the multi-funtion switch harness and connector on my 96 .28 automatic to try to clean it up and check for shorts...

does anyone have any info on where this is and the best way to locate/access it ???

(cars in limp mode and this was done at the garage which fixed it for a while)

let me explan more...

I was told to replace the multifunction switch they had to remove the subframe and it is in a hard to reach place, probably toward the top of the tranny, but I'm hoping to get to the wires and clean them up best I can, is brake cleaner a good idea for that or will I be causing more problems... just seems that will evaporate up well after I spray it, then maybe shoot some silicone on the wires to help protect them ...

What's happening is that when I go to shift, the indicator for reverse and N does not engage all the time, especially when cold, then it either bangs into gear after a few seconds or goes into limp mode, I've got codes saying its the multifunction low signal or selector switch problem... thats about it

boring subject-but I may have solved

I got under the car tonight, found a wire harness that comes from the engine compartment and leads down along the lower side of tranny (01v), a problem I found was where it connects between these two areas there is a cannon plug which has a boot on either side, well the engine side had the wire shroud cut back about 6" and he boot was pulled back that far exposing the buisness end of all the wire connections to whatever the left front tire wanted to throw at it... after pputting the shroud back around the wires and taping it up and getting the boot snugged back up as best I could with access through the left front wheel well, I hope that this will correct my intermittant signal problem to my multi-fuction switch... if not I at least found something someone had seriously neglected to replace/fix properly... question now is, if this was the cause of my shifting problem, do I bother to call the garage that supposedly worked on this last week and give hell, I dont see any worth to that myself, I just know I'm not planning on going back...

my odb2-tool has definately payed off on this one, since I've had to reset my safe mode tanny about 6 time now !!!
