Default Multifunction Switch?!?!?!?! (Long)

I have a question to ask you guys...I am in Houston, Texas and it's been really cold lately for Houston weather and just the other day my car was acting funny. I started my car that had been sitting outside in the cold weather for several hours and when I went to reverse the car didn't move. It just sat there and I noticed that on the dash gear selector that the "R" was not highlighted. It would not drop into reverse but it would go into any other gear except reverse. The car would move forward but not back. Then I kept messing with the gears and all the gears lit up on the dash. I took it to my mechanic today and he hooked up his scanner and pulled out some codes. He got 00293 which is the multifunction switch. He said that he believes that that is what is causing the problem. I ordered that part already but not comming in untill Tuesday. I have been reading up on "Limp Mode" and the symptoms seem to be the same as mine. Wondering if the cold weather could be causing my car to act retarded and if I should really invest on replacing the multifunction switch. Please if anyone could help me out with this one I would appreciate a lot. Sorry this thread is so freaking long

Default Switch.

You have probably erased the fault and are now out of limp mode. Electronic transmission, the only input it has of requested gear is the multifunction switch. You could check the connector to the multifuction switch, have seen water/ corroision in there before, but most likely switch. Of course if it was me I would just wait until it happens again.

On the way home from work today I noticed that when I am comming to a stop and the car starts to slow down it jerks hard around 2K rpm. Would this also cause my reverse not to work at certain times? Just wondering becuase I don't want to keep driving it around and it casue more problems for me to fix. When I also go from Drive to Reverse and vice versa the car jerks really hard...now is that supposed to happen if my car is in this so called "limp mode"? Thanks for your time.

Default Its entirely possible.

If the TCM isn't recieving a good signal from the Multifunction switch it will enter limp mode.
