Need Help

1. Does any one know what the "NAV" setting is for on the concert radio? And how to accurately set the "GALA" function.... I tried but have not seen any volume difference.

2. There are times when I do some "aggresive" down shifting with my TIP and it performs beautifuly... really feel the engine compression scrub the speed of and then you are able to blast out of the corner in 2nd like a deamon...

There are other times though that it feels as if the TIP just slams the gear in.. you feel the whole box shake.... like a manual when you down shift and let out the clutch too quicly..

Is there some thing wrong with my tranny or am I doing some thing stupid?

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

You are not doing anything wrong! The Tip has many problems, inconsistency is one of them. In auto mode I attribute this to the adaptive design which in my opinion is a bunch of bull. In manual mode I can't offer an opinion. I have a 98 version the same as yours and like everything about it except the Tip which I wish would fall out and roll into a ditch where it belongs. Is it clear that I despise this thing? I am hoping to get the Garrett Tip chip which may help. Otherwise I will be looking to unload this thing come Spring. PS - I do believe the Tip works better in the 6 cylinder and probably also better with Quattro.
