Default need help

My 1996 A4 overheated today on the freeway. Car cut off by itself but I was able to coast to a gas station. The expansion tank was empty and I had just filled it a couple of days earlier. I purchased some antifreeze and let the car cool down but it would not start. I could hear the starter whine but engine would not turn over. Any Ideas? Car has 130000 miles and last timing belt change was at 90000 miles. I was thinking maybe a new water pump but why wouldn't the car restart?

Default sounds like you may have seized the engine.or have a hole

overheating isnt something you let your car do... Did you find the source of your leak?

no...and expansion tank fills up. It is not leaking, it is being used.

I think the water pump may have failed but that still does not explain why it wouldn't start after I let it sit. I got it home and put it on the charger for a while and it still won't start.

Default you may have warped the engine from overheating, so it's "seized"

or hopefully it wasn't the timing belt that broke. but only 40k shouldn't do that.

Tried to "Pop the clutch" to start the engine. That didn't work either
