Need help with engine problem . . .

I was driving home and down shifted to 2nd while turning into my subdivision and felt a strange hestitation or bucking (like I let the clutch out to fast). As I tried to accelerate there was intermittent paower and it was VERY rough. Pulled over and reved the engine and felt the same rough intermittent power and rough idle. It may be the turbo, but I think I could hear the turbo spool when I reved the engine and I've felt a seized turbo before and this feels different -- and the problem occured while I was down shifting, not accelerating. Does the turbo spool up on down shifts???? Any ideas???

Loose solder job in your ECU? Try idling while tapping the ECU. OR maybe bad MAFS? Good luck!

This has happened to me...driving in downtown LA traffic at 3 in the afternoon.

Question for you. When this bucking occured, did your CEL and EPC light flash intermittently? Mine did. It got to the point on my travel back to OC that my car outright stalled and died. Let sit and start it back up again and was fine. Come to find out that although the solder on the chip looked like it took, the underside where the pin leg actually makes contact w/ the board did not solder (cold solder). So when I sent the ECU back it was checked for coding etc (no problem there since if there was the checksums would not match and the car would not start at all) so was determined that it was a bad solder joint.

How recently/long have you had your car chipped? Heat also, as a lot to do w/ weakening the already bad solder joint. So have that looked at.
