Need to replace MAF....
I have read that the air box has to come completely out and other articles say that I can just take out the air filter.
Any thoughts?

Take the top part of the airbox out. No need to take the whole airbox out.
Be gently with the MAF wires, people have say they get brittle and break. Don't forget to get a tamper-proof bit. I forget the size t-15? t-20?
Very simple to change out, about a 20 min. job.
