Default Non Audi Engine Conversion

Was recently reading the new car & driver. there was an article on a group that was putting electric motors in vehicles for drag racing.
The bimmer board have had a lot of engine conversion talk as well.
Are there any audis that have been converted to a non-audi engine (ie domestic V8)?

Default I think most people on here buy an Audi for the reason of staying away from American cars

and their related parts.

Default The Germans basically stole the "domestic" V8, tuned it, improved it, and sell it back 5 fold

aka, the RS4. =)

Default I would love to convert my A4 to a Plug-in Electric...

Enova systems is making most of the electric car engines. You can buy kits (motor and controller) from places like Electro Automotive.

It seems like you would need to do a fair amount of fabrication work to get an electric motor and the batteries installed. Electro Automotive will make you a mount that allows you to bolt up an electric motor to your existing manual transmision, though.

I'd spend up to 10k if there was a proven setup to convert an A4 to full time plug-in electric... which is about what the current kits cost.

http://www.electroauto.com/</a

Default *goes back to hole in ground*

Sorry, with the AID being 122k and new comers making some silly claims, I take none too seriously.
