Default is this normal

after my car sits for about a minute or two, the RPMs settle to around 700-800... well if i look closely, the RPMs are fluctuating 50 up and down... ive heard this is somewhat "normal" on 2.8's especially in the winter... is this true? i dont have a CEL or anything neither... could it be somethin with my air filter, MAF, injectors, spark plugs, etc?

Default normal, my 1.8 does it, infact every motor does it. none will hold a

true constant idle.

Default If you closely watch your Tach you will notice that it fluctuates ever so slightly

Its normal, no car will hold a true idle al the time, it depends on air intake and what the computer is reading etc...

Default If the idle is hunting +- 50 rpms, something is not right.

Is it bad enough that it needs to be addressed, no. Will it get worse over time...most likely, yes.

Search for Kris Hansen, follow the link in his sig to his website. He has a write up on cleaning the idle control valve on his website. That write up is for a 12V engine, yours is a 30V engine, so there might be some small differences. It's a good starting point though. Clean the valve, and see if the idle smoothes out.
