Peeling Paint
I have a spot the size of a dime on the front of my hood (99 1.8T) where the paint is peeling right off of the metal. The dealer says it is a stone chip, but I absolutely can not see any dent that would indicate impact.
Has anyone ever heard of this kind of paint problem on Audi's this new?

Your hood could have been a repaint before you picked it up....
maybe it was damaged during transit and the dealer had to repaint the hood, and now it's flaking off. OEM paint should NOT, and will NOT flake off.

yes. i have the same thing...
only mines the size of a nickel. two options-ridiculous amount of $$ to paint the hood or get a bodyshop buddy do a nice touch up for you. I think the audi paint is beatiful but it is notoriously non-durable.

Have you had the dealer check it?
If so, what did they say? I find it hard to believe that mine was caused by a stone chip. I have one other spot that definitely IS a stone chip (I remember when it hit - more like a boulder!) and it isn't peeling at ALL. This one grows every week.

Can I prove that somehow?
Maybe an independent body shop could tell?
I'm wondering: if this was, in fact a stone chip, would it peel? You seem to think not. I have one stone chip that is about 6 months old (definitely a stone chip - this one took out a piece of the hood as well) and it has not peeled at all.
