Please help. problem wit my A4
I just bought a mint condition 1996 A4 2.8. Garage kept from a friend. It.s in such great condition inside and out people think its brand knew. Now I live in So cal. . I was stoped at a stop light and the truck in front of me rolled back as the light changed he hit me not to hard but enough to put a little dent in the middle of the front hood , right were it closes to the grill. well I was mad enough about the little dent , since there is not one single dent or scrape on the car. A day later i tried to open the front hood. I pulled the lever from the inside of the car wich pops it up about two inches and then you have to press down on the external lever to complete the opening of the hood. Well no matter what I try It wont open !!!! Like I said it pops open from the inside car lever, but the outside lever which is not broken will not open it no matter how hard I press it. In dont want Audi to charge me a fortune so if anyone can tell me a way to get it open. which I willl have to do eventually.
I would appreciate it greatly.
( By the way the guy who hit me took right off)
It was a beat up pickup and his licsence plate was so dirty I could not even read it.

Thanks for your response. I appreciate it very much. Im worried that when i have to change some fluid or anything engine related im screwed. Yes I did pull the plastic latch that is located in the center of the audi circles logo. It just wont release. Do you think Audi is going to charge me up the wazoo or jst help me to open it. Remember it opens the first couple of inches. It's just when I pull the latch , it won't release.

If you bring your car to the dealer for anything your wazoo is going to feel it.
Its usually best to find an independent mechanic that specializes in VW or Audi. In this case you should be able to get it yourself. Have you tried holding the latch tab out and pushing down and pulling up on the hood. It may just need a little force to pop past whatever is holding it.
