Default POLL for Koni users.........

1. What setting?
2. Like it or want to change it to softer/harder?

Any other comments appreciated. As long as they're constructive, all you jerks

Got word from SPP that my Intrax/Konis are on the way. Thanks Eric! Good thing the girlfriend is leaving town next weekend.

One more thing. Anyone in San Diego have a set of spring compressors and a impact gun they want to loan me? I'll pay with beer.

Anyone want to help me with the install? Bueller..........Bueller......................

Default same here, i'm adjusting them all next weekend

Konis don't like to adjust back up so if you're putting them in, put em in too high and let the springs settle. then lower them accordingly. i'm trying to raise the perches back up so i have to take the all the coilovers out to do it. i'm also installing a new perch and some seats for the springs that koni sent me because i complained so much.

Default No you don't. Just compress the springs a bit (you can do while in car) and raise back up...

But if you are convinced of taking them off anyway, make sure you dremel and rounden the edges. Fronts only right? Rears should give you no problem.

Default Don't forget that the stiffness setting should ideally match the spring rate. (m)

I used to have Eibach Pro-kit springs on my car, which was a fairly soft spring. With those, I had the Konis set at about 50% stiffness, and felt that they were too soft. Recently I switched to Vortrag/Hyperco springs, which rate at 450lbs in the front and 500lbs in the rear. When I had those installed, I had the shocks dialed way up, to about 90%. Part of this was to better match the new spring rates, and part of it was because I wanted a firmer setting anyway. For what it's worth, I don't think that the shocks are unbearably stiff, even at 90%. I'm very happy with the ride now.

Oh, and the car is a 99.5 1.8tQ.
