Is it possible to replace 2.8 '96 engine with '98?

adding the Bosche ECU alone makes it not worth the effort.
besides, if JET chips is for real, you will
be able to supercharge your 12V 2.8 soon

Everything is possible...for a price. But if your motivation is power, you'd be better served...
putting the money toward the full 230HP TDL Racing conversion. Probably cheaper than an engine swap and more horses. Unless you Supercharge it, there isn't a 30v that can touch 230 horses.
