Probably a FAQ...
But FAQ-U anyways.
Since the 2001 1.8T has 170hp and the 2000 1.8t has 150 would adding a 40hp to each one result in the same differnce? I can do the math btw, but am a newbie, don't know much about Audis yet, and considering one in the near future.
btw, anyone in Cleveland Ohio?

Lower compression ratio in 170hp versions, more ultimate horsepower

I teach at CWRU!
As for chipping the 150hp vs. the 170hp the 170 has a lower compression ratio (less prone to detonation=more boost safety) so you can get a little more hp out of the chipped version. 207hp vs. 200hp from APRs chip for example. I believe GIAC has a similar increase.
