Problem with clutch?

Hey guys, what's up. I've got a 2000 A4 1.8T with about 33,000 miles on it.

I've had a problem in the last week or so, where if I exceed around 3000 RPM's in 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear my car just drops and the RPMs start flying down. I have to downshift and upshift to get my RPM's steady again.

What's wrong? Is the clutch slipping? Is it just burnt?

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

No CEL light? OK in 4th/5th?

From the description doubt it's the clutch, esp, if you can pull away from a stop OK.

Wonder if you have an air intake blockage. Check the air cleaner or intake duct.
