Problem with (Delta CC) radio - in SAFE mode, and 4-digit code does not work!
When taking my car to my local Audi dealership for a routine (85,000 mile) oil change, they had to change the starter/ignition due to an Audi recall. In doing so, they disconnected the battery and radio, and when they plugged everything back in, the radio was in "SAFE" mode. They tried entering the 4-digit combo, but it didn't work. They also tried looking online somewhere (no idea where), but were unable to find a different code.
I looked through the car's old records (it's a 1997 A4, and I purchased it back in 2001), and saw that the radio was replaced a few months after the car was initially purchased in 1997. That old radio came with its own radio code, so I tried entering it, but no success.
I was wondering if any of you guys had any suggestions as to what I should do next? My local (and only) Audi dealership is stumped. Is there somewhere online that I myself can look up codes, if I input the radio's VIN/serial number? If not, is this radio screwed?

One more thing (STK?)
In doing a search, some people have indicated that the radio code may be on old invoices. It's not on any of mine, but I do see an old 4-digit code on the previous owner's invoices labelled "STK," under "Options." Anyone know what this is?

Ask the dealer to make good on it
The Delta CC radio is a piece of work! A similar lockup occurred on my car (purchased new, have all records including the radio code card) when I changed the battery a few years ago. Dealer was unable to unlock it, I had to swap out the radio for $225 - Audi had a refurbish/swap program, as this is not an uncommon problem.
My radio is starting to flake out again, occassionally not turning on, I can hardly wait to see what happens next. If it has to be replaced again it will be with an aftermarket unit.
You may want to ask the dealer to return your car in the same condition that it arrived in, except for the work they performed. Don't count on anything, but it can't hurt to ask.

Guess I'll have to do that..
...I was really trying to avoid bring my car back to those idiots, but it really sucks having no radio.
I wish they had at least told me they were going to do a recall part exchange, instead of just going ahead and doing it without asking. I just wanted a simple oil change...
