problems replacing dash bulb
in the interim, i tried to unscrew the 2 phillips head screws holding the instrument cluster down and ended up stripping the left screw since it was so damn tight.
had to pay audi stealership $55 to drill out the screw. 30 min labor and they had the car back to me in less than 5 minutes. total scam. the vw dealer wanted $85! the sears extractors didn't work since the screw head was too flat.
to make matters worse after finally changing the bulbs the top of the speedo stopped lighting up. removed the cluster again and it was ok. however the oil pressure gauge still does not light up. i took it apart tonite again and removed the bulb. looked ok.
any ideas? i did remove the fragile looking connector the enters near the bulb which i assume is from the oil pressure sending unit (it works correctly).
i'm going to buy another bulb just to make sure, but it's freaking annoying as hell! stealership wanted $165 to drill out the screw and replace the bulb. go figure.
