Default Program Remote

I brought my 2.8 in today to fix a few things that were not working when I bought the car (cruise control and rear window lock), and asked them to program the remote so that on arm, it would close the windows.

They said that it cannot be done. They said they tried it and it didn't work.

Could anyone that has added this feature to their 99.5 please reply and let me know so I can phone them back.

I am right to assume (from the FAQ) that all they need to do is add 64?? I it for some reason screws up, can you just reset it back to factory???

Thanks,

Vitt

I may be wrong...but I think you have to hold the button down to get the windows to go up, it's not

Default Lock/windows up//unlock/windows down

Hold the button down after the lock..they'll go up. Consequently, hold button down after unlocking and the windows willgo down. The sequence takes 2-3 sec.,but you must keep presure on the button for the 2-3 secs.

They are stupid. It does work.

Did you bring in the FAQ and the TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) so they know exactly how to do it.

My service manager had no idea also until I gave him the TSB and FAQ. He followed the instructions on the TSB but instead of entering the code on the TSB (which only gives you auto door lock) he entered in the number on the FAQ that gave me the features that I wanted.

It worked and it was covered by warranty also. Didn't cost me a dime.

Try another dealer if it still doesn't work.

Default Many dealers won't do it because .......

Audi doesn't want to get sued when you close your windows with your remote and you find your kid had his head out the window.

You know it's that American thing, sue everybody!!

This TSB is about adding door locking at 15 MPH, not windows

Default I wonder what the real reason is?

So many dealers are using this as the excuse, yet there has never been any word from Audi about programming the windows to close with the remote. The pinch protection is still there, so even if your kid had his head out the window, it wouldn't hurt him.

I think some of the dealers are just paranoid.
