Pushdown or non pushdown.....does it matter
Well I have a stock pushdown reverse shifter in my car now. I want a short shifter. Do I have to get another push down shifter or will a non push down shifter work fine. Thanks.

Depends on your preference.
Two popular choices around here are Neuspeed & UUC for Short Shift Kits (SSK). For model years 96 to 99 (I believe) you are required to push-down to engage reverse for the UUC SS. The Neuspeed kit eliminates the push-down feature, and that's the kit I got. I think both shifters are both good and recommend you test both SSK. The Neuspeed has a slightly shorter throw and the shifter sits lower than the UUC, although the UUC was designed to sit higher, in line with OEM specs. And it'll be more difficult to install a shifter for your model year than the newer non-push. Patience needed. Just some info to consider.

Just installed my Neuspeed 'pushdown' SS this weekend...
They eliminate the pushdown need by having you trim 1.25 inches off the plastic tube that's on the inside of your shifter boot. Voila, no pushdown needed...just don't slam it into reverse when you really want 4th gear :-)

But they dont even ofer a pushdown model. I want a shifter with cartridge bearings and it is at a good price. Thanks for the help.
