Default Question regarding CPP upper control arms

So I've read most of the archived material on these adjustable upper control arms, and I still have a few questions.

1) I'm running H&R Coilovers, lowered approximately 1.5" front & rear (I'll check the threads to get a more specific measurement) in combination with 18 x 8.5" SSR comps & 225/40/18 tires. I don't really think I have a camber issue at this height, but my right front tire shows excessive inner wear. Do you guys think this is a camber issue or is it an alignment problem?

2) A lot of the S4 guys have had issues with the joints needing regular greasing, but it seems like most of these guys have CPP UCAs with Heim joints. Currently AWE tuning lists the CPP UCAs as having Aurora joints. Are these the same things, or have the CPPs been changed in response to the issues presented previously?

3) I know the adage goes, "if it's adjustable, then it'll make noise," but does anybody have the CPPs on their car? How much noise do they actually make?

Sorry about the long post--thanks all.

Default um...

camber is adjusted in an alignment

and yes it sounds like you are running some negative camber. i had the same problem when lowering. you should be able to fix it somewhat with an alignment, still will be running some negative camber but not too bad

Default Alignment issue..not a camber problem...

I get that same inside wear whenever my cars had the H&R coilovers ...

Okay thanks, Steve.

So do you think the CPP adjustable UCAs are overkill if I'm going to only spend a couple of days on the track per year? This car is also my daily driver...

Default I had them on my 01 S4 Avant...

I might be putting them on my 05 Ultrasport..If money is not an issue..go for it...if you are considering other mods..do those first.

Default How is inside wear not a issue with camber? Especially when lowered.

Mine is lowered about the same and I had -1.5 degrees of camber. This WILL wear out front tires on the inside. And it will do this to your tires...

camber is not adjustable unless you buy a kit to make it that way.

Default re-read, if it is one tire that is worn, alignment is probably the problem

Also there are bushings you can put in on the factory control arms that let you adjust camber from K-MAC. They are ok, but the CPP links would be the ultimate. Either way it will make the ride more harsh.

Default It can be..but most likely is either toe in or toe out

Combined with some negative camber. Driving technique actually has something to do with it..as do the tires used...and pavement driven on. The H&R coilovers that he has automatically give him about 1.6-1.7 degrees of negative camber. You can adjust it a slight amount if you know someone that knows how to move the subframe...but finding someone that is knowledgeable about audi alignment tweaking is rare.

very true on the alignment, finding someone to do it and knows is worth spending the money for.
