Default Quick ?

I'm going to put my avant into service position for the first time tomorrow and i just am not clear about the rods that hold the radiator support. Can i use the 2 allen bolts that come out of the bottom of the bumper?

Default Those bolts only hold on the bumper skin, which has to be removed

Under the bumper you'll find 4 bolts per side that hold the bumper supports to the frame. You'll have to loosen/remove those to put the radiator support into the service position.

Default Corrections

the 2 bolts hold the bumper support onto the bumper shocks, I also think you mean "behind the bumper" not under. Well unless your car is always standing on its rear bumper, then you would be right.

BTW its 3 bolts that hold the shock to the frame, there is usually one spot that doesn't have a bolt which is used for the "service" position of the raditor support.

Default Yeap! also...

You really dont need to use the special VW tool to do it. I work at a dealer and most of the tech's just use long 8mm bolts.

The thread pitch is 8x1.25 and the longer the better (120mm+) should work fine. You can most likely pick them up at a decent hardware storeor lowes.

Default Just buy a stick of allthread. cheap, and you can cut it to the size you want.

doesn't have to be tight, just thread it in by hand.

Default right right

Thanks for the help. I know there are 3 bolts holding the shocks to the frame, But last time i took my bumper off i took 2 allen bolts out, from under (if facing the bolt head). I heard that you could use these to slide the bumper out onto. Guess these aren't the them though. Thanks for the thread size and pitch, perfect! I would be so in debt to my local guy if it weren't for yall. 175k is an important time for my Avants maturation! Might be old but at least its a milf.

agreed, but I would go with a TL over an Accord any day. Although the '08's are quite intriguing.
