Quick CC question...

I'm finally starting to troubleshoot the cruise control on my used '97 1.8, which hasn't worked since I've owned it. My question is whether there is normally any dashboard indication that the CC has been activated. There was a light that came on in my last car when CC was on. I figure that might help me pare the source of the problem down a little bit, since I don't see any such indicator when I try to turn it on in my car.

my 98 has no visual indication related to the Cruise control..

I'm going to say that the B5's in general had no CC light

have you tried turning it off?.....

mine has started failing during rainy weather. if i turn it off for a few minutes while driving it comes back to life.

It's always off - I've tried everything I can think of in terms of messing with the switch

you are aware you need to manually turn it off?...

by pushing the control switch into the detente opposite the resume function

When I bought my 99.5, salesman said to always leave the CC on, which I've done. About two...

years ago, I turned the CC off for several months, then when I tried to use it, I got nothing.

So I've left it on continuously since then and its been fine.

You might try just leaving it on for a few weeks and try it again to see if it starts working.
