quick question -
someone crashed into the car of a friend of mine. He thinks there is frame damage, the driver's side door is completely smashed in. It's a '98 Integra, he says it's worth roughly $9,000.
Who determines whether the car is totalled? Or should he just get a lawyer?

his or the other guy's?
He wants to sell the car, I'm telling him he definitely wants it totalled.
I guess what I should be asking is, if the other guy's insurance wants to repair it, can he get a second opinion?

I neglected to ask the important question -
if they say it's not totalled, can he get a second opinion on it from someone else or take them to court?
Obviously a car with frame damage is worth only a fraction of its used value.
