redesigned A4
The sedan will be the first at the fall of 2001, coming up will be the Avant, a coupe and a convertible. I don't want to comment on the spy shots cause it looks like Pontiac is the head designer of the next A4 and I don't believe Audi will not keep the spirit of the current irresistible A4 styling. (I won't have any comment before the real car introduced to the public!)
All the engines will have an upgrade, usual for redesign. While the 1.8T will be standard with 180 hp and the 2.8 will be replaced by the 3.0 with roughly around 210-225 hp. The Quattro V will use the same system as those in the TT, A3 and S3.
Audi will improves the interior space and trunk space while keeping with the current car's responsiveness and handling refinement. They will address the steering by giving it less power assist in order to address the light feel complaint of some owners and critics.
I think the current car is perfect, they only need to fix the wet braking delay issue and I will be happier.

If the Haldex system on the A3 Quattro, S3, TT Quattro, Golf and Bora 4Motion are proved to be reliable since introduction last year, Audi may go for the system in the next A4. However, when the next A4's introduction is getting so close (I mean in Europe/Asia markets), Audi may refines the current proven Torsen system in order to make Quattro V since the Haldex system still relatively new to the market.
I will bet Audi will take the conservative step of refining the current Torsen system for the next A4. Maybe in the 4th or 5th generation of A4, the Haldex system has finally proven as dependable as the Torsen. By that time, Audi may replace the Haldex but its already a very long time ahead.
