Reliability

Certainly, proper maintenance is key. Hopefully you have replaced your timing belt by now. If not, you're living on borrowed time.
You can make an a4 run for 200K miles. It's just going to take quite a bit of $$$.
Cars are made with a range of quality... if you got a lemon, it will break down no matter how well you maintain it. If you happen to get one build like a rock, you can autoX it twice a day and it will still run like a champ.
But you are doing the right thing in making sure that you change the oil, filter, don't drive it like you gotta beat everyone on the road etc. All this will help increase your chance of having a car running in good shape.
There is really no way to predict how a car will do in the long-run, you just gotta keep up with maintaining it in the short-run and hope all the work goes the distance.
We have A4's on this board well over 100k. My A4 is at 94k ('97 model) and still runs just fine. Also keep in mind that it's not just the engine you gotta worry about... also need to keep an eye out on the suspension, turbo (if you have a 1.8t) etc.
No warranty for him.
" But Amsoil says I can go 10k between changes "
Call em up and ask em for a new engine.
Service your car well, don't beat it, and it will last forever.
