Remote programming issues...
I've got a '00 Avant, and recently picked up a used remote (car only came with the valet and plastic key). The remote seems to be communicating with the car on some level, I just can't get it to work properly. Performed the procedure as follows:
1) Plastic key in ignition, turned to "ON" (last click before turning over).
2) Valet key in drivers door, lock manually.
3) Hold UNLOCK button on remote, lights on car flash (no beep).
4) Manually unlock driver door, re-lock. Remote unable to lock/unlock.
Any thoughts? Car didn't come with remote, so not sure of exact FCC code but the remote does cause the lights to blink at the beginning of procedure.

try this....
4) manually unlock driver's door, relock. 5) manually unlock driver's door. turn car off. 6) test remote. if you push any button after the lights flash with the car still on it may cancel the sync
