is rust normal for a rotor?

This rotor looks really good compared to mine. Try winters in Quebec.

between oxidation of the steel and moisture any rotor will rust..its

just that the pads sweep the rust of the braking surface. If wash your car, don't drive it and then look at your rotrs the next day you'll see oxidation marks

what would cause some rotors to rust on the hub

while others don't? btw these where oem replacements installed by an indepedent shop

are you refering to the rotor where the pad comes in contact?

or the hub circle section behind it?

They're cast iron.

Iron rusts.

Some aftermarket, and I believe the genuine rotors have a plating on them to help reduce the rust. But even over time this plating doesn't hold up, and the rotors begin to rust.
