S4 sport suspension on A4 1.8t -both Avant (long)
I have been researching an affordable suspension updgrade, and from looking through the forums it seems like an S4 sport suspension (from an Avant) would fit on an A4 1.8t (also Avant)but that the biggest concern would be the front ride height due to the S4 springs being tuned for the extra weight of that engine. SO......if I swithed out the front springs with A4 Sport Springs or Eibach springs, but kept everything else from the S4 sport suspension do you think it would fit and work???
I have also researched installing an A4 sport suspension from a sedan (Avant seem hard to find), but it seems like that could possibly cause the rear to drop lower than the front due to the extra weight in the Avant.

If you check on tirerack.....
when you say you have a S4 it doesnt reccomend the addition of sport shocks to lowering springs.
if you say you have an A4 it does reccommend that you add sport shocks to lowering springs.
So I'd say you can use the S4 shocks with H&R springs.

You do not want any part of an S4 suspension on your A4 1.8T...
...If you are looking to upgrade the suspension with the most bang for the buck, try the height adjustable Neuspeed Bilsteins set on lowest perches with oem 1.8T A4 sport springs (for your Avant, you want 1.8T avant sport springs & Sedan would use Sedan sport springs). This is what I have had on my A4 for the last year, and it is perfect for someone who is looking to upgrade the suspension without emptying their wallet. I live in severe snow country, and I can tell you this was the worst winter I've ever seen. I just checked out under the A4 a few days ago, and found the car to be in perfect condition, not even a scratch. Of course, back roads were avoided like the plague.

Thanks for the information and nice pics! sweet looking set up. Did they make sport specific springs for the Avant? I know there is a weight difference of approx 100lbs, and would assume they may have tuned them differently, but have not come across Avant sport springs....
