shifting

anyone know how to do any "special" shifts for drag racing with the 5spd manual tranny? tips on shifting faster? etc...

what car?...

try launching at 2700-3000, ride it half way up to 3500-3700...

i shift at 6500 or so

its a 2001 a4 1.8tqms... i was wondering if there are special shifting techniques that people know about that would make me shift quicker than just normal shifting...

Shifting...

Drop clutch around 3200 and ride it, then when you get to 4000 just floor it, 1st gear speedshift at redline (Don't let of gas, blip clutch and quickly pull back into second), 2nd gear shift at 5800, 3rd gear shift before redline. If you are in 3rd gear and are about to finish the 1/4 mile DON'T shift to fourth, hold it until you finish....but make sure that you don't hit the rev limiter...if you think you wll hit the rev limiter, shift to fourth via speedshifting.
