Default Depends...

how comfortable are you with doing another turbo install in the near future. That's the risk you take with a used turbo. It's a great deal, but not if you are paying someone else to do the work, and the used turbo fails next month.

Default The used turbo came off a Passat, only has 10k on it. I am thinking new right now, cause

like you are pointing out, do I want someone else's problem. I am going to do the install myself. If I win the auction low, I am sure I could sell it to some for the same amount.

Default The issue with a turbo is that it's high tolerance unit...

meaning it's not like a used alternator. If someone got some debris in the intake or the oil inlets when they were removing it, it's possible that the turbo may suffer and unexpected and early demise. So while a turbo with 10K miles on the clock will have plenty of life left in it...if it wasn't handled properly from the moment it was removed from the car, you'll end up...up the creek.

Default I think he's suggesting that he'll buy it now...

then decide later how he feels about installing a used part. If it doesn't sit well with him, then he could just resell the turbo for close or more than what he paid for it.
