Default Sleeper
I'm new to the community. I just got a '99 1.8T, and was a little disappointed it only has 150hp (I was expecting 170-180). I want more. I plan to chip it, but I'm also looking at adding an exhaust.

Anyone know of a good exhaust which isn't overt? Yes, I want speed and aggressiveness, but I don't want my car looking or sounding like the Fast and the Furious.

Default Only 170-180?
You can have 350.

But exhaust isn't they way to get there. Start with a chip.

Default none of the 1.8t exhausts are fast and furious loud imho
apr, miltek, scorpion, borla, etc are all deeper, but not obnoxious like the 4" honda civic tail pipes you're talking about.

Default thermal R & D.. very nice exhaust...

Default Welcome aboard!
A chip is a definate MUST for the 1.8t, and there are plenty of companies to choose from. An exhaust is also a good way to add a few more ponies if you are chipped as well. You can do alot of research on your own as these products have been discused extensivly on these boards; learn to become one with the search feature, it is the portal to alot of usefull info.

Default I'm all about sleeper -- it doesn't have crazy power but it's enough. See specs...
All you need is a chip, exhaust, upgraded pads (and rotors if you want) and wider tires on the stock 16"s. Done. A short shifter is nice too.
