Slipping Tiptronic Problem Solved
this thread provides some insight into why.
First off, make sure you follow proper ATF procedure and
monitor your trannys temp. and make sure it's not underfilled.
This will definitely result in the trans. slipping.
I purchased the car used with about 100k and the ATF had
never been serviced with a proper ATF & filter change.
So I decided to be proactive and change the ATF... but the bolts
were stripped, so I couldn't get to the filter and do a pan drop.
That's when things got scary... 1 year later the tranny starts
slipping like mad. That brings us to present time.
Anyway, here's a background to another thread I had started,
and I finally took it somewhere to have them replace all 27
bolts (each one stripped) and replace filter & fluid:

Turns out the mechanic really didn't know what he was doing
and so I had to order some Pentosin and fill an additional 3
liters to the tranny. But at the least he dropped the pan for me.
Tranny continued to slip. OK so now I'm really starting to worry.
No DTC's or electrical malfunctions to speak of. Well one for
a break light switch, but I screwed up on my VAG-Com procedure.
The car runs great, no vacuum leaks, etc. I even cleaned the
MAF with MAF cleaner to no avail. And still it slipped in every gear.
I decided to try AutoRx as well. 2 days ago I topped off the
tranny with (Pentosin) ATF... it took about another 1/2 liter
plus 8 ounces or so of ARX. I also decided to disconnect the
batt. to let the ECU reset... not sure if the TCU resets too but
what the hell. Performed a TBA using the VAG-COM, checking
again for DTC's... none. Good. Proceeded to drive to work and
WHOAAAA!!! Car is completely transformed! The slip-bang into
gear is completely gone! I was skeptical, and so I decided to
wait 2 days (today) to be sure everything is fine before posting
my results here.
So there you have it... I have no friggen idea what I did to make
things right... I tried to be as deliberate as possible in keeping
my steps separate from one another, but I'm leaning towards
the fresh fluid & filter along with the AutoRx helping to de-
varnish the oil passages that really help things get back to
normal. I'm guessing I probably had a clogged journal/passage
within the valve body or something.
Anyway, I'll be changing the ATF yet again in about 1,000 miles
to get rid of the ARX.
Hope this helps someone, somewhere.
Thanks to everyone who's helped me!
Colin
P.S. I hope to have some pics of the A4 up soon... I've done
a lot of bodywork recently in addition to a new Febi front end
Tbelt job and just a lot of work in general overhauling crap!
She runs great and hope to keep it that way.
I should be feeling warm & fuzzy in about 1/2 hour! LOL!!
Let us know how the trans held up after 1000 mi.
