Default Do you have some special cams you are dying to use?

If I am not mistaken, the solid lifter cams have a much larger lobe than the hydro cams, at least in teh VW world...

Ah. Hydros can't rev that high? I would think that they would be hard as a rock at high revs...

Default I thought the float was due to the springs?

I was under the impression that all the lifters do was keep the cams tight to the valvestems constantly...

Default You dont need solid lifters to rev that high. But you do if you want to get up to 8500 rpms

but at a cost of over $3K dollars do you think 500 rpms is worth it.

Default Based on what evidence?

I'm really curious if there is a formula used to figure it out

Default Others have been revving their 1.8t's to 8K rpms.

I know someone that went past that and did not do any damage to the motor.
