Default Some advice on window tint...

I live in VA and checked out the state law charts; didn't really understand them. What is allowed, or what can be allowed to slide. Also, what are any good places to have the tint done in northern Virginia? Or better yet, what are good tints to buy and do it yourself? Any help or advice would be nice, I had tint on another car and a P.O'd officer fined me for it.

Default 50% on the front side, 35% on back side, and 35% for the rear window

The lower the percentage, the darker the windows. The percentage represents the amount of light that can pass through the window. Also, keep in mind that the factory windows do come with tint. Probably around 95% or so.

http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/VA/</a

Professional is probably the best way...Polycarbonate, non-metallic tint only

Default Don't go too light or wont be happy. Tinters remorse. I had 35% front and 20% rear and like it..

It looked pretty dark, especially with all black interior. Current car has 20% all around with I like as well. If you are worried about it looking legal then consider staggering the front/rear. OH laws allow 50% front and 35% rear, so I went one darker each, but that way the front and rear still were distinguishably different.

I was thinking about it the same way you did it, 35/20. Did you do your own windows?

Default that is darker. Lower number is darker tint. xx% is how much light the tint lets through.

So the rears allowed 20% of the outdoor light in and the front allowed 35% of the light in. I have heard it listed the other way (higher number being darker tint) but 95% of the time its other way around.

Default I did it to try to make the tint look legal. They didnt look too different and a little easier to

see out of the front windows at night. I would really consider doing 20% all around though (current car like this, and I like it a lot.) Also kind of depends on what color car, my last car was silver so didnt want windows too dark. Current car is black on black, so dark windows fit in well.

I did not do it myself. I have seen (and its been posted here) do it yourself precut tint on Ebay. Not sure of the quality or how easy/hard it is to do the job. I think the kits were maybe around 50 bucks..?! I paid 200 to have mine done 2 summers ago. If you go DIY route please let us (or just me) how it went/what tint you used etc. I have one window that looks like crap and would like to redo it at some point in near future.
