B. Lower the volume of the music on the CD itself. Typically a normalization of -16 dB (music is mixed at this level) allows for higher volumes on the amp itself, and allows it to do its job better. This can be done in your CD burning software as a filter of some kind.
C. Replace your headunit.
I have the same problem with the FM radio functions, but on my XM, I can lower the line out power to remove the "static" you hear.
