My 96 was fitted with H rated tires from the factory. 130mph max. The speed limiter on my car would cut in at an indicated 129mph.

Where do you guys take your cars to be able to achieve these speeds? Max I have achieved in the Audi is 110-MPH. The steering went very light and there was an odd vibration in the rear. Then I had to slowdown because of traffic/cops.

You might be on to the whole thing right there. Mine had H rated tires out of the factory. So maybe it had more to do with the speed rating of the tires than the country it was made for.
