Speedometer doesnt work

Default Speedometer doesnt work
i have a 1996 a4 2.8 and the speedometer stop working. Everything else on the instrument cluster works. check fuses everything was good. Swapped the instrument cluster with one i know that works and still had the same problem. Can someone please help.

Default thought about that... but 2.8L location for oil filter != same as 1.8L location
wondering if VSS (Vehicle speed sensor) became unplugged somewhere. Not sure where it is on a 12v though

Default yeah u correct. really no chance of catching anything on 12/30V except
maybe one of the ps lines

depending on your tranny you can check to make sure vss is in and of course vag-com is prob good too

Default You *could* also tap the VSS wire in the main block. Drivers side kick panel. I have a schematic
showing the location of it. If you need it, let me know and I can dig it up. Might be easier to see if it has signal here rather than at the trans.
