split-wide angle mirror install.
sorry if this has been asked before.. but i was wondering what the correct way was to take off the mirrors to install the split wide-angle mirrors.
any help or advice would be most appreciated. thanks

The mirror glass is a press fit into the mirror housing. Some have suggested using a couple of allen wrenches as hooks to go behind the glass and pull. I tried this on mine, and didn't feel comfortable pulling real hard with such a narrow contact patch. I dug up a couple of L-shaped pieces of aluminum about a half inch wide and used those to reach behind the mirror glass. I was able to comfortably pull off my old glass with these. Also, I put a blanket on the ground in the vicinity of the mirror just in case it got away from me. Once you get it loose, there are a couple of wires on the back that attach to the mirror heater that have to be disconnected.

It's called an "aspheric" mirror. Look here.
