Squeaking--HELP!!
I own a '98 A4 and the car now has 49,200 miles on it and the front left wheel is squeaking really obnoxsiously when I turn the wheel or go over bumps. I brought it into the dealer to look at and they said it was something called the "front straight arms and D C-links" seem to be noisy they said. They gave me an estimate of $1073 to have it fixed. Is their another way around this. My question is do they have to be replaced or is there a way to lube them or grease them and get around that expense w/o replacing them??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could try...
poking a small hole into the boot of the arm and injecting some lube in there then sealing the hole with some "goop". It worked for me on one of my arms so far. The only think that worries me is that eventually the arms will loosen further and could potentially be a safety issue. I'm not sure how long you can drive around on worn joins but I wouldn't worry too much cuz you'll know when it gets worse and definately have to change them.
